Accommodation Information

The students will be accommodated at the local vocational school (Lapin Ammattiopisto, LAO, indicated as "Sodankylän Ammatti-instituutti" on the map below) located in the village of Sodankylä. The facilities consist of flats for 8 people (4 twin rooms) with shared kitchen and bathroom. The price for the whole stay is 180 EUR/pers.

Every day, shuttles will be organised between LAO and the Sodankylä Geophysical Observatory in Tähtelä (about 7 km from the village; see map on the Location page).

Alternative options

Should a participant decide not to stay at LAO, there are several other options in the village. They are listed below, with links to their official webpages. Note that the shuttles to and from Tähtelä will not stop at these places.

• Hotel Bear Inn ☆☆☆: single, twin, double and triple rooms, some with private sauna or steam shower. Free-access shared saunas, lounge with bar, restaurant. Internet (wifi).
• Hotel Sodankylä ☆☆: single, double and triple rooms, as well as one superior suite with private sauna. Free-access shared saunas, two restaurants. Internet (wifi). All rooms are non-smoking.
• Majatalo Kolme Veljestä (Bed & Breakfast "Three Brothers"): their webpages are in Finnish; use their contact information to ask for the current prices.
• Camping Nilimella Sodankylä: appartments, cottages as well as camping spaces.
