Important: Oulu buses do not accept cards! Make sure you have cash (EURO) available, preferably coins or small notes, do not present the bus driver with EUR 50 notes!

You will need to pay the bus from the airport to the centre yourself, and also your first bus trip to the university campus. With your registration, you will get a bus ticket valid for the whole week, so you do not need to pay thereafter. However, when returning to the airport by bus, you will need to pay again, because the airport is in a different zone.

Airport to Oulu Centre

From the airport, take the bus Line 8 or Line 9 into the centre of Oulu. Note that Line 8 is more efficient for going to the railway station. For most downtown hotels, go to "Kaupungintalo P" (City Hall (north)); for the railway station, go to "Linja-autoasema E" (Central Bus Station (south)).

Oulu Centre to University Campus

Between the centre and the university campus, bus lines 1, 2, 3 and 8 run frequently between the city centre (bus stop "Kaupungintalo") and the university campus at Linnanmaa (bus stop "Yliopisto"). Travel time is 15-20 min. Between 8-9 a.m. there should be a bus leaving every 5-8 min.

Also lines 22 and 48 can be used, but they run less frequently and do not stop at Kaupungintalo, but ≈200 m northwards close to the church.
