THE 2010 ISWI-AFRICA SCHOOL ON SPACE PHYSICS

November 22-December 3, 2010 Washera Geospace and Radar Science Laboratory Bahir Dar University, Bahir Dar, Ethiopia

1 Background information

The IHY (for more information see http://ihy2007.org/index.html) has successfully conducted many programs that have not only popularized space science all over the world and but also created favorable conditions for joint research and training in a new global collaborative framework. African scientists have successfully participated in the IHY and many research level scientific instruments have been installed in many parts of Africa in the framework of the IHY. In oder to make maximum use of these and other similar initiatives and establish strong space research groups in Africa, a high level training of young students and researchers is very crucial. The present ISWI School is a continuation of the African Regional IHY School, which was conducted in November 10-22, 2008 in Nigeria.

The general objectives of THE 2010 ISWI-AFRICA SCHOOL ON SPACE PHYSICS is to train African students on the fundamental knowledge and skills associated to the following key areas:

More detailed topics (tentative)

1. Space physics

2. Computational space physics
